Eight children found dead in a house in the north of Australia. Queensland state police reported that the house is located in the suburbs of Cairns Manura.

At about 11:20 local time (4:40 GMT) the police asked the woman about 30 years old, also received severe stab wounds.

She said the attack in the house where the bodies were found eight children aged 18 months to 15 years.

The Australian TV reported that the children were stabbed, but so far police have not confirmed this information.

The woman was taken to the hospital. Her condition is stable.

Police called the incident a tragic incident, but was assured that there is no threat to public safety.

The scene was cordoned off, investigators are working there.
