Pushilin: the effectiveness of the subgroups depends on the actions of Russia – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, May 10 – RIA Novosti. The performance of subgroups of the Contact Group to resolve the situation in the east of Ukraine is largely dependent on the actions of Russia, the head of the delegation of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in peace talks Denis Pushilin.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin at a press conference after talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Moscow said that Russia will use all influence on the leadership of the DNI and the LC to begin the process of the four sub-groups of Ukrainian settlement developed positively.

“We believe that the effectiveness of the subgroups in Ukraine largely depends on the active actions of Russia in the settlement of the Donbas,” – said the Donetsk Pushilin news agency.

The question of resolving the situation in the Donbass discussed, including during meetings in Minsk, the contact group, which since last September has adopted three documents governing the steps to de-escalate the conflict.

At the end of the last meeting of the contact group on May 6 participants managed to form four working sub-groups on specific aspects of de-escalation conflict. They are expected to start work in the middle of May.



What is agreed at the talks in Minsk

The talks “Norman quartet” held on February 12, held against the backdrop of a sharp aggravation of the situation in the Donbass provoked by the Ukrainian security forces that progressively forces began to storm the position militias. Following the meeting, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany adopted a set of measures, involving, in particular, the cease-fire in the Donbass 15 February, the withdrawal of heavy weapons and the establishment of a security zone.

One of the most important points signed in February Minsk agreements was constitutional reform and the adoption of the permanent law on the special status of certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. The agreement states that decentralization should take place in consultation directly with representatives of these areas, but Kiev authorities ignored this provision, stating that they did not intend to go to dialogue with representatives of the rebel territories.
