Many people in Cuba pin their hopes for a better life with the normalization of relations between Havana and Vashingtonga

Havana welcomed Washington’s decision to exclude Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. Cuban authorities called it a fair solution.

Earlier, the press service of the White House announced that President Barack Obama has decided to exclude Cuba from the list of countries, which also appear on Syria, Iran and Sudan.

On Tuesday, the US president said that the government of Cuba in the last six months, “has no support for international terrorism” and “gave assurances that it will not support acts of international terrorism in the future”.

In turn, a high-ranking Cuban diplomat Josefina Vidal, responsible for contacts with the SSHA, said: “The Cuban government has recognized a fair decision to exclude the US Cuba from the list, which it should not have been included, especially given the fact that our country has been the victim of hundreds of terrorist attacks that cost the lives of 3478 people “.

The process of normalization of US-Cuban relations, broken more than 50 years back in recent months has accelerated, culminating in the recent warm personal meeting with Obama Cuban leader Raul Castro.

However, the presence of Cuba in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism was the last obstacle to the resumption of normal diplomatic relations, including the opening of embassies in Havana and Washington.

The embargo on the export of US goods to Cuba will continue to operate until, as it can remove only the US Congress.

US made Cuba one of the sponsors of terrorism in 1982.
