Previously recognized guilty of murdering 12 people, James Holmes, known as “Colorado shooter”, was sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of release of docrochnoe, reports Reuters.
The jury consisted of nine women and three men. And they had to decide what punishment to expose Holmes: lethal injection or life imprisonment without parole. By law, the highest measure may be applied if it spoke for all the jurors in each case murder, or the defendant automatically receives life imprisonment. Because the jury agreed, Holmes escaped death.
Earlier, on July 17, the jury found him guilty, the meeting lasted 13 hours against Holmes was indicted on 166 counts. The court had a choice – Holmes sentenced to death or to life in prison.
The fire in the theater Holmes opened July 20, 2012. The tragedy occurred at the premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises.” First he sprayed in the audience tear gas and after that opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, then a gun, which later was replaced by the gun. Police detained a man in the parking lot near the cinema. Then 12 people were killed and more than 70 injured. During interrogation it was found out that he is inclined to identify with one of the villains of the comic book and movie about Batman – Joker.
During the preliminary conclusion Holmes converted to Islam. His guards told me that he started to take food in the tradition of Islam, read the Koran and grew a beard.
