Latakia (Syria), January 29 – RIA Novosti. Higher Committee Negotiating (WCP) Syrian opposition agreed to participate in mezhsiriyskoy meeting in Geneva, reports on Friday, the channel “Al Arabiya”.

“Supreme Negotiating Committee decided to participate in the Geneva talks after as received guarantees from the United States and the United Nations “, – said the TV channel.

At the same time, said the channel, it is about the intention of members of the CPSU to send a delegation to Geneva for consultations with the UN Special Envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura, rather than direct participation in the negotiations on polituregulirovaniyu crisis in the CAP.

Members supported Riyadh WCP over several days to sit in the Saudi capital, until now did not declare its consent to come to talks to put an end to the nearly five years the conflict in the country. This is due to a number of requirements which, in the opinion of the committee, Damascus had to meet before the start of the negotiation process.

These requirements, in particular, include the removal of the blockade of the rebel-controlled areas, the release of detainees and the cessation of dumping so-called ” the barrel bombs “before the parties sit down at the negotiating table.

In Geneva, 29 January under the auspices of the United Nations began consulting the parties to resolve the situation in Syria, which are conducted in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution №2254. Talks are expected to last six months.
