Mali authorities reported the death of a Russian citizen in the terrorist attack – RBC

The agency Reuters reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Mali reported that as a result of attacks by armed Islamists in the hotel, killing three foreigners – citizens of Russia, Ukraine and South Africa.

Earlier, RIA Novosti reported with reference on the Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Mali Viktor Gorelov reported that the captured hostages freed a Russian citizen, and is in a UN camp in Sevare.

Earlier, Agence France-Presse, citing military sources reported that that during the confrontation in Bamako died seven people: two security officials and five invaders.

On the eve of gunmen attacked the hotel “Byblos”, which is home to members of the UN mission to resolve the situation in Mali. One of the peacekeepers died in the attack. No organization claimed responsibility for the incident.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that the hotel is a citizen of the country. Ukrainians managed to escape from captivity. Later, he said that at the time of the attack he was a Russian citizen and three citizens of South Africa. French President Francois Hollande said that the hostages may also is French.
