Hong Kong police used against the demonstrators gas and truncheons – Lenta.ru

Hong Kong police tried to disperse a protest in front of the local administration, applying pepper and tear gas, and batons. As a result, injured at least 38 people, according to CNN.

Demonstrators campaigning for democratization of the electoral system in Hong Kong on Friday, September 26, occupy government district of the city. According to Reuters, took to the streets, about 80 thousand people.

Law enforcement officials can not suppress the protests, between activists and the police regularly skirmishes. Organizers of the protest had already accepted the fact that the situation “got out of control,” on Sunday, September 28, they called on activists to leave the area because they are afraid that the police tried to disperse the rally, using rubber bullets.

From the beginning of the protest were arrested, 78 people aged 16 to 58 years. The total number of victims is not specified.

The protesters claim the right to elect their own local government. Beijing promised to Hong Kong to provide such a right in 2017, but added a condition that all candidates will approve the People’s Republic of China (PRC). In Hong Kong, such conditions do not agree.
