British intelligence agencies had identified the man in black balaclava, who appeared in several videos LIH executions of foreign hostages and spoke with a British accent. As reported by The New York Times, the gunman Mohamed Emvazi known as Jihadi John is a 27-year-old computer programmer with a diploma from the University of Westminster.
As the newspaper writes, Emvazi was born in Kuwait, but grew up in London and is a British citizen . His personality, according to a senior British intelligence, was established some time ago, but was not disclosed for operational reasons.
For the first time Jihadi John appeared on video in August 2014. He was going to cut the head off an American journalist James Foley and voiced threats against the West. Penalty itself on this video was not shown.
Later the same man appeared in commercials with records of executions another American journalist Steven Sotloff, British aid workers David Haynes, a British taxi driver Alan Henning and American volunteer Peter Kessiga . In January Jihadi John appeared on the video with the Japanese hostage Harun Yukawa and Kenji Goto shortly before they were killed.
The representative of the anti-terrorist unit of Scotland Yard refused to confirm the identity of the newspaper militants, in the Office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom not declined to comment on information about jihad John.
