Turkey has created a dangerous precedent by prohibiting the Russian inspectors to carry out an observation flight over its territory in the framework of the Open Skies Treaty. This was announced by Head of the Russian Ministry of Defense to monitor the implementation of agreements Sergey Ryzhkov.

Ryzhkov said that the flight was to take over Turkey from 1 to 5 February 2016 on an observation aircraft AN-30B and the “no preconditions and restrictions on the Russian observation flight from Turkey has been expressed”.

However, after the arrival of the Russian mission to Turkey and the announcement of the planned route of the observation flight, the Turkish military denied its hold, citing the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, “- said Ryzhkov

Observation flights
The Open Skies Treaty was signed in 1992. It brings together 34 countries.
Observation flights are made over Russia, the US, Canada and European countries.
The main tasks of the “open sky” – the development of open, contribute to the monitoring of the implementation of agreements in the field of arms control, empowerment, crisis prevention and crisis management in the framework of the OSCE and other international organizations.
