An earthquake measuring 6.4 killed at least 14 people in Taiwan, rescuers specify island. Under the blow fell metropolis Tainan – the fourth most populous city of Taiwan, where some multi-storey buildings collapsed
About 30 people are still under the rubble 17-storey residential building.. More than 500 residents of the south of the island suffered.
The earthquake occurred about four am local time (20:00 GMT Friday), when most people were at home. For the first stimulus followed by five more.
The center was located at a depth of 10 km, while seismologists recorded six tremors.
The island is located in a seismically active region, often experiencing an earthquake.
The last major earthquake occurred there in 1999, its magnitude was 7.6. Disaster victims then become more than 2.3 thousand people.
