The White House is ready to lift the restrictive measures in Russia only in the case of implementation of the Minsk agreements, US Secretary of State John Kerry said.

“I emphasize the fact that President Barack Obama is ready to lift the sanctions, if all provisions of the Minsk agreements are fully implemented,” – he said, in particular, referring to the return of control over Ukrainian border with Russia

.
The night before, Kerry held a four-hour talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the participation of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The sides discussed the situation in Ukraine and Syria, and reached an agreement on several issues: continue to coordinate actions to secure a truce in Syria, to prevent the use of indiscriminate weapons, to continue efforts to ensure humanitarian access to all areas of Syria

.
In addition, Moscow and Washington have decided to urge all parties involved in the Syrian conflict to release the prisoners, but also actively work to create conditions for the political process in the Middle Eastern country.

In January, Kerry said that Minsk agreements can be made in the coming months, which will lift the sanctions with Russia.
