The updated edition of the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation was considered by the interdepartmental commission for strategic planning of the Security Council, said the press service of the Russian Security Council, quoted by Interfax.
During the meeting, as stressed by the press Service of the Security Council, “the participants excluded closeness of the country from the outside world, noting that an active foreign policy, development of cooperation with other countries to attract foreign investment and technology to complement their own efforts to modernize the economy and strengthen the national security of the Russian Federation».
As the message of the Security Council, during the discussion of the draft strategy, the participants stressed the « the need to maximize the use of internal reserves of Russia – economic, political, human, cultural and spiritual potential».
The strategy should consolidate the efforts of governments and civil society to create favorable internal and external conditions for realization of national priorities and to counter new threats to Russia’s national interests.
The updated national security strategy should be presented to the president before the end of the year .
President Vladimir Putin instructed to adjust the national security strategy 3 July 2015. “We need to quickly analyze the entire spectrum of potential challenges and risks – both political and economic, and information, and others, and on this basis to adjust the strategy of national security of Russia”, – set the task of Putin.
According to Russian legislation and documents related to strategic planning, should be adjusted every six years. The current edition of the National Security Strategy was approved May 2009, Dmitry Medvedev, who then served as president.
