Officials of the European Union decided to extend sanctions against Russian and Ukrainian politicians, but have not yet come to a consensus on economic sanctions against Russia. About it writes The Wall Street Journal.
“With the decrease in the level of violence in the east of Ukraine and the growing problems in Kiev increase in the number of European countries, who believe that sanctions against Russia should be reviewed,” – the newspaper notes

As a sign of a possible change in the attitude of the EU towards Russia called the visit of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in June at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. Juncker could become the first senior European official, who will visit Russia after the Crimea in the spring of 2014.
Now the restrictive measures apply to the 149 Russian politicians and officials, including two deputy prime ministers Dmitry Rogozin and Dmitry Kozak and President Vladislav Surkov assistant.
The further fate of the sanctions will be discussed in the next few months. Their term expires at the end of June.
Earlier it was reported that US President Barack Obama signed a decree to extend the sanctions imposed in March 2014 against Russia because of the events in Ukraine.
