An explosion at a factory in Mexico: Three dead, hundreds more injured – BBC Russian

According to recent reports, the victims of the explosion at the three men began a refinery in Mexico, 105 people were injured, including 58 workers of the plant.

The incident occurred at 15:15 local time (20:15 GMT) at the facility owned Pemex state oil company, in the port city of Coatzacoalcos in the southeast of the state of Veracruz.

Hundreds of people evacuated, closed all schools in surrounding areas.

According to eyewitnesses, the sound of the explosion was heard at a distance of ten kilometers. The photos posted on social networks, see the thick smoke.

As the representatives of the company Pemex, in the evening the flame was extinguished, but authorities recommend that residents not to go out because of the risk of smoke poisoning.

According to the Associated press, the plant, where the explosion occurred, produces vinyl chloride, used in the manufacture of pipes and packaging materials. When ignited this chemical releases hazardous substances.

The company Pemex assure that the situation is under control, and the incident will not cause disruptions in fuel supplies.
