French President Francois Hollande asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not attend the march of unity with the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris. This writes the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported citing Israeli source who participated in the negotiations between the Elysee Palace and the Prime Minister’s Office.

Please, the source said, was due to the fact that their participation in the march was confirmed by President Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The request was connected with the desire to “keep the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the side of the European demonstration of unity,” says the publication.

Netyanyahu and Abbas went on a march of unity in the composition of Heads of State and foreign delegations. They walked in the front row, which also were German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi and others. Delegation from Russia presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The total number of participants in the march across France exceeded 3.7 million people, reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of France. In Paris, according to the organizers, left 1.5 million people.

The marchers took to the streets with signs «Je suis Charlie» [fr. "I - Charles'] in memory of those killed in the terrorist attack employees of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo. The organizers expect that the march will take place in silence, but because of the number of people who came to this requirement was difficult to comply with.
