Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On Amendments to the Regulations on military service.” The text of the document published on the official web portal of legal information.
The amendments mainly concern the procedure for concluding a contract with foreign citizens to military service in the Armed Forces of Russia. Thus, the document stated that foreign nationals wishing to enlist in the Russian army under the contract, to submit an application to the military commissariat at the place of military registration or place of residence, or directly to a military unit.
According to the document wishing to serve in the Russian army alien must know the Russian language. The first contract with a foreign national entering the military service for the position for which the state provided the title of a soldier, sailor, sergeant or sergeant, is five years.
It is not allowed contracting for military service in the Armed Russian forces with a foreign citizen, against whom the inquiry or investigation, the criminal case in respect of which referred to the court, convicted and sentenced. A similar ban imposed on foreigners who have not taken off or outstanding conviction for committing a crime, serving a sentence of imprisonment or a court decision disqualified from military position during a certain period.
