At the Cathedral of Christ the Savior passed the night Christmas service, which was headed by Patriarch Kirill. The liturgy was attended by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his wife Svetlana. During the liturgy were committed prayer for Ukraine. Earlier, the Patriarch said in a television interview that he was praying for peace in the Donbass. President Vladimir Putin met Christmas in the Voronezh region. In the village of Otradnoe he attended the Christmas service at a local church in honor of the Holy Virgin. This was the first appearance in the coming year the head of state in public.
