Ex-Governor of the Bryansk region was given four years in prison for a poultry farm – BBC Russian

Former Governor of the Bryansk region Nikolai Denin found guilty of abuse of office and sentenced to four years in prison.

The public prosecutor demanded to sentence Denin to five years in a penal colony.

According to investigators, in 2011-2012 Nikolai Denin signed a decree the allocation from the reserve fund of the region more than 21.8 million rubles controlled by his family poultry farm “Snowball”. As the result, the defendant acted guided by selfish motives. The prosecution also insisted that Deneen put pressure on subordinates who took the decision to allocate funds for the factory.

Nikolai Denin has not pleaded guilty. He insists on the fact that 21.8 million rubles were designed to eliminate the consequences of the explosion in a factory that prevent an ecological catastrophe in the Bryansk and the Bryansk region.
