Summit EU – Turkey, which starts in Brussels on 29 November put a “new beginning” in the process of Turkey’s accession to the European Union, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the Turkish agency Anadolu.

«[Today] History [day], that will revitalize the accession process [Turkey's EU membership],” – said Davutoglu journalists in Brussels ahead of the summit. “I am grateful to all the European leaders for a new beginning”, – the prime minister said.

«Today we will discuss the future of our continent, the global challenges of the economic crisis, as well as regional geopolitical issues, including the issue of migration “- said the Turkish prime minister.

Earlier, after the EU summit on October 16, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the EU countries are considering granting financial assistance to Turkey in the amount of € 3 billion in connection with the migration crisis. At the same time Merkel said that EU leaders agreed to intensify the process of Turkey’s accession to the EU.

In addition, the German Chancellor emphasized the fact that Turkey has already spent on the placement of more than 2 million Syrian refugees € 7 billion, while that the EU countries to provide financial assistance in the amount of only € 1 billion.

At the same time during the press conference following the EU summit the head of the European Council, Donald Tusk said that the European Union has reached agreement with Turkey on the issue migrants.
