MOSCOW, August 29 – RIA Novosti. Dominican authorities evacuated more than 7.3 thousand people due to hit the country a tropical storm “Eric” , according to local newspaper Listin Diario.

The element damaged at least 823 houses, three of which were razed to the ground, said the publication. Information about the victims have not yet received. The country declared a “red” alert level.

Director of the emergency operations center of the Republic, General Juan Manuel Mendez (Juan Manuel Mendez) reported that the storm was 155 kilometers south-west of the capital city of Santo Domingo, wind felled trees, telephone lines and power lines have been torn off.

Earlier it was reported that as a result of the storm “Eric” on the territory of the island nation of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean, killing at least 35 people, several people are missing . The authorities of the country to date, confirmed the death of only 20 people. About 80% of the island remained without electricity and water supply, and the main airport was closed due to flooding.
