A joint mission of the United States and Italy in the framework of the international Open Skies Treaty will make an observation flight over the territory of Russia. The journalists said the chief of the National Center for Nuclear Risk Reduction Sergey Ryzhkov, Interfax reported.
He explained observations will be carried out on American aircraft OC-135B from the airport Novosibirsk (Tolmachevo) from 17 to 22 August .
Ryzhkov said that the flight will take place on an agreed route. Russian experts from the aircraft observations will monitor compliance with the agreed parameters of the flight and the use of the equipment provided by the contract.
The plane OS-135B belongs to a class of aircraft not intended for the use of any weapons, said Ryzhkov. “The aircraft and its equipment installed on the observation (aerial cameras) have passed international certification, with the participation of Russian specialists, which eliminates the use of technical means not provided for by the Treaty,” Belgian Foreign it.
