The Egyptian president arrived in Russia on a visit on August 25. A day earlier, he discussed issues of cooperation with the Speaker of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin, and held a number of other meetings.
Military Cooperation
The Arab media quoted Egyptian military sources said that one of the main topics who will discuss Alsisi during his visit to Russia, will be the military cooperation.
At the end of May, the head of the Industry and Trade Denis Manturov in an interview with RIA Novosti said that Russia may conclude with Egypt major new contracts in the military -technical cooperation (MTC) for the supply of aircraft, helicopters, land equipment and air defense systems. The countries cooperate in the field of mechanical engineering. According to him, there is great potential for Egypt’s exports of manufactured agricultural products, leather products, furniture, clothing, and the world-famous Egyptian cotton in exchange for Russian industrial equipment, machines and tools, as well as heavy trucks and agricultural equipment.
Medvedev, in turn, noted that Russia and Egypt are equally interested in increasing the supply of goods within the framework of bilateral trade. He said that the Russian market is well-known products of the Egyptian farmers: supplied from Egypt, potatoes and citrus fruits for many years enjoyed great demand.
Energy
Russia and Egypt are actively cooperating and in the energy sector. In April, the head of the trade mission, Fyodor Lukashin told RIA Novosti that Russian companies intend to strengthen its position in the Egyptian market – they are ready to develop minerals, build nuclear power plants and to develop industry in the country. In turn, the Egyptian farmers do not hide that they want to increase the supply of fruits and vegetables to Russia and turn to the sales office of the Russian Federation for support.
Of the major companies of the Russian fuel and energy sector in Egypt is only works NK “LUKOIL”, which produces sixth of the crude oil produced in the country. But other Russian oil companies plan to increase their presence in hydrocarbon production projects in Egypt.
