Oktyabrsky District Court of Irkutsk freed under an amnesty from criminal punishment of the daughter of the Secretary of the Irkutsk regional election commission Anna Shavenkova convicted four years ago due to loud traffic fatalities in center of the city.
As the press service of the court, Shavenkova fell under an amnesty timed to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The court decided to remove her criminal record on the proposal of the criminal executive inspection.
The resonant incident occurred in December 2009. The car, which ran Shavenkova, hit two young women, one of whom died in hospital, while the other became an invalid.
In March 2011, Shavenkova was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison suspended sentence for 14 years, since the convicted shortly before the child was born.
In September 2012 it was ordered to pay compensation to the family of victims in the amount of 200 thousand rubles (4,000 dollars).
“vicious practice”
Protection Anna Shavenkova on the court stated that after the accident, she also went to the hospital, and the threat of termination of pregnancy.
At the same time the lawyer affected Viktor Grigorov expressed fears that the verdict postponement of punishment for Shavenkova can create a “vicious practice”.
“Now women criminals know how to avoid punishment. The defendant Shavenkova this sentence without serving a single day,” – said Grigorov at the hearing in May 2011.
During the discussion of the sentence Shavenkova bloggers noted that the domestic courts do not always postpone the entry into force of sentences for mothers of minor children.
Meanwhile, as reported Tuesday interim authority deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia Valery Maksimenko The amnesty, announced on the 70th anniversary of the Victory, has touched almost 34 thousand people.
It was reported earlier that the amnesty will last six months, and during that time it is planned to release 60 thousand prisoners.
