Media: Russia has not won the “Eurovision” because of the ban propaganda of homosexuality – Kommersant

Singer Polina Gagarina could not win the music contest “Eurovision”, which was completed in Vienna. According to the author of the article in The Washington Post, the reason for this is, inter alia, a ban on the promotion of homosexuality in Russia. “After the epic trolling Austria, which established in Vienna traffic lights with the image of same-sex couples, it would seem, nothing will help Russia regain its reputation in the competition. Fans of “Eurovision” was constantly reminded of the existence of Russian law banning gay propaganda, and perhaps because of that Polina Gagarina had no chance to win, “- the newspaper notes.

The author also said that criticism of Russia noted the irony of the situation in which Polina Gagarina made a song calling for peace and unity in the background of the events in Ukraine.

The winner of 60 th anniversary of the contest “Eurovision”, which was held in Vienna, became a Swedish artist Mons Zelmerlev with the song Heroes. Russian singer Polina Gagarina, who presented a song A Million Voices, took second place. In third place was the Italian group Il Volo.
