The Russian side has sent Austria a request for extradition of the former head of the oil company” Bashneft “Ural Rakhimov. This was informed Interfax “a source familiar with the situation.” According to him, the request for the arrest and extradition of Rakhimov was sent on the basis of the investigation on the case of embezzlement of shares “Bashneft».
The lawyer Ilnur Salimyanov Rakhimov told RIA Novosti that he was not aware of the request to extradite him client.
In Russia, Ural Rakhimov is accused of embezzlement on a large scale, as well as the legalization of stolen funds. Himself the former head of “Bashneft” has long been in Austria.
Moscow’s Basmanny court in absentia arrest Rakhimov, the period of investigation in his case had been extended until July 28, 2015.
In December, 2014 Rakhimov, counsel Ayrat Latypov said that his client had left Russia when against him have not been instituted criminal proceedings – five years ago.
The case of the illegal sale of shares “Bashneft”, which were also defendants in the head AFK “System” Vladimir Yevtushenkov and businessman Levon Hayrapetyan, was initiated in April 2014. In August it was initiated another investigation into the sale of the “System” shares Bashkir fuel and energy.
Yevtushenkov spent three months in detention and was released when the court granted the Prosecutor General’s Office on the return of the shares “Bashneft” state. Businessman is still accused, the investigation into his case extended until July 28.
