The bill on denunciation of the agreement of Russia and Ukraine on the use of the Azov Sea and the Kerch Strait It was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. The document appeared in the electronic database of the Ukrainian parliament on July 16.

The authors of the initiative began several MPs, among them – the first vice-speaker of Parliament Andrew Paruby (the party “Popular Front”). In the description of the bill said that he was “submitted to the leadership».

The agreement, which denunciation MPs intend to seek, was signed by Moscow and Kiev in late 2003. In a paper published on the Kremlin website, stated that issues relating to the Kerch Strait should be carried out under an agreement between the Russian and Ukrainian parties.

Kiev and Moscow have agreed that commercial vessels and naval ships under flags Russia and Ukraine will enjoy the freedom of navigation in the Azov Sea and Kerch Strait. One of the articles of the document states that all disputes relating to the application of the contract shall be resolved “through consultations and negotiations, as well as other peaceful means».

In early June, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed five laws that denounce the agreement Kiev and Moscow. These entered an agreement on cooperation in the military sphere, as well as an agreement on transit through the territory of Ukraine Russian military units temporarily stationed on the territory of Moldova. Poroshenko also denounced the agreement on mutual protection of classified information, the agreement on the organization of military interstate transportation and settlements for them and an agreement providing for cooperation in the field of military intelligence.

As explained by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk in late May, Kyiv I decided to break the agreement on military-technical cooperation with Russia because of its actions in relation to the Crimea and the Donbass. “She illegally annexed the Crimea, intervened militarily in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and represents a danger for Ukraine and its territorial integrity”, – he stated the politician. The Kremlin has repeatedly denied accusations of Kiev in support of the military self-proclaimed republics in the Donbass.

Commenting Yatsenyuk, a member of the Public Council at the Russian Defense Ministry Igor Korotchenko told RBC that the words of the Ukrainian prime minister sounded strange a few months after Moscow He announced the completion of a program of military-technical cooperation with Ukrainian enterprises.
