In the “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” published an article by Dmitry Medvedev, under the heading: “The New Reality: Russian and global challenges.” The prime minister described it as “an attempt to analyze the major changes taking place today in the global economy and directly affects the situation in our country».
The Prime Minister noted that in recent years there was a “profound transformation of the world order.” According to him, these changes are the cause of modern geopolitics, including sanctions against Russia. “It is becoming increasingly clear that the leading countries of the world come to the new trajectory of growth,” – said Medvedev. He emphasized that now the world’s attention is focused not only to the United States, but also to China.
The prime minister pointed out that the geographical and geopolitical position of Russia is required of it “all the more active development of cooperation in the East.” Medvedev stressed that the direction of the financial, trade, technology flows, and market dynamics “clearly indicate that the underestimation of the importance of relations with these countries and regions would have strategic implications.” At the same time, he stressed that this activity be interpreted as an intention to Russia where a “reoriented” is incorrect.
The key trend of modern reality Medvedev called “universal emancipation.” He noted that “in the world you can find many examples of when policy or specific solutions do not fit into this agenda, and even opposed to it,” citing the example of the anti-Russian sanctions. Premier said that the search for examples of the effectiveness of restrictive measures is not easy, so that “sooner or later, the sanctions are canceled, and the relationship between the countries included in the normal course.” “What has been said applies to our current relations with the West. Russia is not going to leave the European continent economically, politically or mentally, “- said Medvedev.
The Prime Minister outlined the main trends in three sectors: technological, social and economic. According to him, the technosphere is currently characterized by “unpredictable”, “distribution of digital technologies” and “new industrialization”. The Prime Minister also noted that if the earlier processes in this sector came from the military industries to civilian, now the opposite is true.
The Prime Minister noted that “the effectiveness of new technologies was much higher than many expected” citing the example of shale oil. He noted that “almost three-fold drop in oil prices has not led to their mass bankruptcy.” The prime minister also pointed to the possibility of “a sharp increase in the efficiency of solar energy.” “Do not insist that the land still stands on three pillars, if you are already clearly visible outlines of the fourth” – summed up the prime minister.
Talking about economic trends, Medvedev called “individualization of goods and services” instead of mass production, the emergence of “industrial sectors with a more rapid turnover of capital” and “new financial instruments”. “States are bound to follow the path of development of more delicate instruments of regulation, rather than their primitivism and a total ban,” – he predicted the prime minister. The prime minister also drew attention to the macro-economic challenges faced by the State – so countries have to deal with, “how not to break into higher inflation as a result of anti-crisis policy».
In the social sphere Medvedev singled out such trends as “Global competition for human capital” formation of a new welfare state and the growth of inequality. “The main condition, without which not to find an adequate response to the challenges of our time, the growing level of uncertainty and variability, – encouraging creativity, entrepreneurship, continuing education,” – he said.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that Russia has exhausted the possibility of successful development due to the inflow of financial resources from abroad. According to him, the country needs a new growth model based on creating a comfortable environment for business. Medvedev said the key objective “to ensure not just the pace, and a new quality of economic growth».
The last time Medvedev set out his views on the future of the country in the form of a larger article in 2009. Then an article entitled “Russia, forward!” Was published “Gazetoy.Ru.”
