Public Oversight Commission of the Republic of Komi has confirmed recent media information about the detention of the mayor of Syktyvkar Ivan Pozdeyeva.

According to Russian service Bi-bi-si committee chairman Nikolai Zabrazhinsky, currently detained in Syktyvkar is a temporary detention facility. The preventive measure he has not been elected.

Sources of Russian news agencies say that Pozdeyeva arrested on suspicion of fraud with the land. Details of the case are not given. Any official information on this matter has yet been received.

According to the BBC Russian Service chief editor of the regional edition of “7×7″ Maxim Polyakov, shortly after reports of detention Pozdeyeva he went to the city administration and saw masked men.

According to Polyakov, the door to the reception room of the mayor opened a man in civilian clothes. He allowed to photograph a sign with the name of the mayor, but asked not to shoot his colleague and secretary, who were in the room.

Polyakov said that the regional government of the Investigative Committee refused to comment on what is happening, saying that the case involved a group of Moscow. BBC Russian Service in the Ministry also said they would not deal with the case.

The Local Government Ministry of Interior confirmed to journalists that do not conduct any investigation against the mayor. The city administration and the regional department of the FSB information about the detention Pozdeyeva refused to comment.

Ivan Pozdeev headed Syktyvkar in 2011. Before that, he worked for a year the deputy head of the Komi Republic Vyacheslav Gayzer. Himself Gaiser September 18 was also detained. The investigation accuses him of fraud and organization of criminal community.

It was reported that in Gayzer featured another 18 people. The name of Pozdeyeva in the case file was not mentioned, and of news sources claim that his case is not connected with the case of his former boss.
