Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will not arrive in Moscow on May 9 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, media reported citing government sources.
Abe, reportedly takes into account the fact that participation in the celebrations in Moscow on May 9 rejected US leaders, France and Germany. It also indicates the newspaper, takes into account the absence of a peace treaty with Russia at the end of the Second World War and the situation around the South Kuril Islands, transmits TASS , with reference to the newspaper “Sankei”.
In the Japanese Foreign Ministry Tass reported that the issue of participation in the celebrations in Moscow is still being studied.
«We have received an invitation to the ceremony, to be held in Moscow on May 9, – said the representative office. – We will now consider the question of who will be involved in it from the Japanese side ».
Traditionally in Moscow for the anniversary celebration of the victory over fascism invited the leaders of many countries. Meanwhile, this year the head of some countries will attend the festivities.
So, to visit Moscow on May 9 rejected US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, European Council President Donald Tusk, the presidents of Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Finland, as well as the premiere of the Netherlands and Norway.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has also decided not to go to Moscow on May 9 to participate in the Victory Parade. However, the press service of the Chancellor reported that Merkel will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 10.
