John McCain did not give consent to the appointment to the Advisory Board under Peter Poroshenko – Kommersant

US Senator John McCain said he would not give his consent to the appointment of the International Advisory Board of the reforms under President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. He said this in an interview with BuzzFeed. “I was requested by Ukraine and Mikhail Saakashvili. I said that I am inclined to agree, but you must take into account all the nuances – whether legally it is in accordance with our ethical rules, “- said Mr. McCain.

He also wrote in his Twitter, that the proposal of the Ukrainian authorities – a great honor for him, however, the politician would like to first make sure whether it is not contrary to the rules of the Senate.

According to the decree of Peter Poroshenko, which was promulgated in Wednesday, John McCain joined the International Advisory Board of the reforms under President of Ukraine.

Earlier “Kommersant” reported that the head of the Council appointed Mikhail Saakashvili. The Council also included a former prime minister and former Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, the head of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok, a former Prime Minister of Slovakia Mikulas Dzurinda, former Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office rejected the request to the Ministry of Justice Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia for the extradition of Mikhail Saakashvili. Mikheil Saakashvili, who led Georgia in 2004-2013 years, Georgian authorities suspected of involvement in a series of crimes. Prosecutor’s Office filed against Mr. Saakashvili four criminal cases on charges of embezzlement of public funds and abuse of power.
