According to Merkel, the government will always do everything possible to ensure reliable operation of the security services. “Given the threat of terrorism, the special services must work in cooperation with their foreign counterparts, including the National Security Agency”, – quotes the chancellor agency Bloomberg.
At the end of April it became known that the BND helped the American NSA spy European Commission and senior officials of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, the spying was conducted for some companies that violated the international sanctions.
Once it was reported cooperation NSA and BND, the French company Airbus appealed to the German government to provide it with information about the possible facts of industrial espionage against the corporation. The company also said it will initiate an investigation against “unidentified persons».
German opposition party “Alliance 90 / Green” government threatened to court. The party demanded that it provided access to the database to search for keywords by which the NSA conducted surveillance of the US European diplomats.
In October 2013, German media reported that Special Forces NSA from 2002 to 2013, bugged mobile Phone Merkel and led surveillance of officials of the German government. After the appearance of these messages Merkel has called US President Barack Obama and demanded an explanation. Obama assured Merkel that the media reports are not true. In the summer of 2014 German prosecutors launched an investigation on the case of listening to telephone Merkel, but a few months later the investigation was discontinued due to lack of evidence.
