 The head of the Syrian opposition council Riyad Hijab announced the composition of the delegation of the Syrian regime opponents, who will take part in a meeting in Geneva on January 25.

 According MIGnews, Hidzhba also issued an ultimatum, stating that he would not attend the peace talks, if they join the third party. The oppositionist at a press conference in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, some explained that he was referring to Russia’s bid.

 Hijab said that the legitimacy of the transfer of power to take place without the participation of the current Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, reports Reuters. “This is our condition for negotiations”, – he said.

 Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov held telephone talks with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Abdollahiyanom. The parties discussed the preparation of negotiations between representatives of Damascus and the Syrian opposition.

 

 As reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry, a telephone conversation was held on the initiative of the Iranian side.

 

 “During the conversation the sides exchanged views on the organization of negotiations in Geneva between representatives of the Government of the SAR and the Syrian opposition in accordance with the decisions of the international support group Syria and resolution 2254 of the Security Council,” – said in a statement.
