Canada plans to soon start training soldiers of the National Guard. This Saturday, June 6, declared Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk after talks with his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper, who came to Kiev with one-day visit on the eve of the summit G7.
In addition, Canada will send its instructors to Ukraine for training members of the MUP. On this mission Ottawa will provide 5 million Canadian dollars ($ 4 million). “This is a real help for Ukraine to be a strong and safe country”, – quotes Yatseniuk’s press service of the government. This is a program, which is designed for 10 months, it will involve 10 Canadian instructors, adds Bloomberg.
Yatsenyuk and Harper visited in training police units and inspected samples of military equipment transferred to the Government of Canada as part of the technical assistance Ukraine, added the press service of the Ukrainian government.
Today, Harper met with the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The Ukrainian leader, commenting on Canada’s plans for training Ukrainian soldiers, said: “I am convinced that Mr. Harper has recently announced an initiative to attract Canadian instructors to training Ukrainian military strengthens the defense potential of Ukraine and creates a fighting fraternity. Thank you for your instructors are we really need! “.
In April this year to training Ukrainian soldiers started the National Guard under the United States. Training is conducted in Lviv region and last for several months. As previously said Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, they will be involved in training the National Guard under 900 soldiers. Educate them to be 290 US Marines.
