«I’m very seriously thinking about his presidency and the 40 years of his life, which is inextricably linked to the FIFA and such a wonderful sport like football.

I cherish FIFA more and more often. And I want to do only what is best for FIFA and football in general.

I was forced to run for another term because he thought it was the best decision for the organization. Elections are over, but the challenges facing FIFA – no. FIFA requires a complete overhaul.

I have a trust FIFA members who voted, but I do not feel I have the confidence of the whole world of football – fans, players, clubs, people who live and breathe football, who love this game so much as we are here to FIFA.

So I decided to resign at an extraordinary congress of FIFA. I will continue to serve as FIFA president before the election. The next FIFA Congress will be held only May 13, 2016 in Mexico – if you hold elections there, it will create unnecessary delay. I would urge the Executive Committee as soon as possible to organize an extraordinary congress, where elections will be held my mate.

All of this must be done in accordance with the charter of the FIF A. We should give enough time to the best candidates, so that they can run for and hold election campaigns.

Since I will not be a candidate, and will be free from the framework and constraints that will inevitably overlap with the participation in the elections, I can focus on carrying out far-reaching, fundamental reforms that will exceed our previous attempts. For many years we have worked hard to carry out administrative reforms, but it is obvious that this is not enough.

The FIFA Executive Committee has members of the Confederation, which we can not control, but they have to be responsible for the actions of these representatives . We need deep structural changes. The number of members of the executive committee must be reduced, to choose the new members of Congress should FIF A. Restrictions on terms should cover not only the president but also for members of the executive committee. I fought for this change before, but as you know, my efforts were blocked. This time I will be able to accept them.
