Bloomberg: Russia’s revived production of pork – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, January 4 – RIA Novosti. The sharp increase in pork production in Russia has allowed producers to start exporting, although still only three years ago, Moscow was one of the world’s largest importers of meat, second only to Japan, news agency Bloomberg.

According to the USDA, in Russia for four years, domestic production increased by 26%, which will reduce imports by more than 80%.

The agency notes that the “revival” of pork production in Russia has led to falling prices in countries such as the USA, Germany and others.

“To be honest, for our business and the country was shamefully import so much. But now the situation has changed dramatically “- said the head of the National Swine Union Yuri Kovalev.

As pointed out by Bloomberg, the Moscow authorities have decided to support the agricultural sector, which has led to a rise in the industry. This happened after the introduction of the product embargo against the United States and the EU in response to sanctions against Russia.

The following year, pork production in Russia, according to the forecast USDA could grow by 5.7% to a record level 2.78 million tonnes.
