According to preliminary data, after counting 100% of ballots ruling moderate conservative Justice and Development Party, led by Davutoğlu, he received 40.8% of votes and 256 seats in parliament. Despite winning the election, the party lost the parliamentary majority. The center-left People’s Democratic Party won 25.2% of the vote and 133 seats in parliament, the nationalist National Movement Party – 16.5% and 83 seats, pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party – 12.9% and 78 seats, respectively. Turnout was 84%.“We are opposed to secret games and invite colleagues from other parties to the joint development of a new constitution,” – said Davutoglu, speaking to his supporters at a rally in Ankara.
He thanked the people of Turkey for the high turnout and called the most correct decision of the people. “Our party has subscribed to the great success and will continue them. Today we have become the destination of national unity. At eleven we were the first elections. And again we were the first in many provinces of Turkey,” – said Davutoglu.
He adding that the opposition parties have not been able to field candidates in dozens of provinces in the country, so do not have the right to declare themselves the victors in the election.
