US condemns hostage-taking in the shopping center in Baghdad – RIA Novosti

WASHINGTON, January 11 – RIA Novosti, Alexei Bogdanovsky. The United States condemns the taking of hostages in a shopping center in Baghdad, told the State Department spokesman, John Kirby.

” We most categorically condemn the attack on the trade center in Baghdad, “- said Kirby. “With regard to responsibility (for the attack), size (terrorist attack) or motivation, we can not now say anything,” – said Kirby, adding that the information about the attack continues to flow.

Earlier, Reuters reported that the terrorist group “Islamic State” (IG, banned in the Russian Federation) claimed responsibility for the capture of a shopping center in Baghdad. The statement of the IG on one of the sites of extremist states that the purpose of the attack were “godless apostate” militants Sunni Muslim group called contemptuously Shiites. Militants blew up in the al-Jadida, a car bomb and then staged the shooting and rushed into the mall, where they took hostages. It was reported that the captured TC may be from 50 to 75 people.
