MOSCOW, December 5 – RIA Novosti. Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan has opened a criminal case in connection with a fire on an oil platform “Gunashli”, which killed at least one person, said in a joint statement, SE, MES and State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
Fire on offshore oil platform “Gunashli” occurred on Friday after breaking the gas line from the storm in the Caspian Sea. According to recent reports, one person was killed, 30 missing, 32 people were saved.
The statement says that on the day of the fire at sea observed wave height of about 10 meters, the wind speed exceeds 40 meters per second. The fire was suspended 28 oil and gas wells. The fire is still ongoing, and the fire spread to other well.
In search of the missing are involved helicopters, ships Emergency Situations Ministry, border guards and other services.
