Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly demanded the release of Savchenko, considering her arrest illegal. President Poroshenko awarded her the title of Hero of Ukraine, as a result of the parliamentary elections Savchenko was elected Member of Parliament from the party “Fatherland.” She took the oath in absentia.
