The lifting of sanctions against Iran fully meets Russia’s national interests, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The head of the Foreign Ministry said in an interview with the newspaper “Arguments and Facts”, answering the question, why Moscow is helping Iran to get rid of sanctions. The minister noted that Iran – a longtime partner of Russia, and at the heart of relations between the two countries are the traditions of friendship and good neighborliness.
«Russia takes consistent steps for a political settlement of conflict situations and resolve the many problems region, contributes to the success of the relevant multilateral efforts – said Lavrov. – In particular, the Russian diplomacy has made a significant contribution to the Lausanne framework agreement on the settlement of issues related to the Iranian nuclear program. We believe that further progress in this direction, the early lifting of sanctions against Iran – as the restrictions imposed by the UN Security Council, and all unilateral restriction – fully meets our national interests ».
